Why Hustle Culture is Dragging You Down
Is more really more when it comes to business?
Actually, this is the biggest roadblock I have seen—assuming that by overworking, you will have a bigger outcome.
Let me give you a quick example. It’s been a while since we have been at conferences, but as you might remember, these events are jam-packed with stuff to do with almost no time to take a breath. Long post-conference dinners until 11 p.m., then 5 a.m. group yoga the next day … let’s not even talk about cramming in multiple workshops, keynotes, and more.
You come home exhausted, and your brain can’t even process all that you did while you were there! 😮💨
FOMO has a real hold on people
Still, the idea of doing less in order to see better results is very scary to many people. What if I actually 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 achieve better results by doing less…or what if it gets worse?
My suggestion to counterbalance this thinking is to 𝗱𝗼 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁. If it works out, then you can build on it. If it doesn’t, not much is lost.
Switching to outcome culture can help you focus on concrete, measurable results rather than being trapped in “hustle” culture.
