Who is responsible for your data?

Friederike Fabritius is responsible for the personal data processed through this website. For privacy questions, requests or withdrawal of consent, email office@friederikefabritius.com. Further business contact details are available in our legal notice.

When you visit this website

Our hosting provider processes technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, including your IP address, browser and operating system, referring page, and the date and time of access. The website uses external hosting provided by DigitalOcean LLC, 101 Avenue of the Americas, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10013, United States. The legal basis for necessary website operation and security is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; where processing is necessary to fulfil a contract or respond to a contractual request, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR applies.

Cookies and your choices

Necessary cookies support the operation of the website. Optional technologies for preferences, statistics or marketing are subject to your consent where required. You can review or withdraw your choices using the cookie settings widget on the website. Refusing optional cookies does not prevent you from reading the website.

We use Cookiebot, provided by Usercentrics A/S, Havnegade 39, 1058 Copenhagen, Denmark, to collect and record cookie choices. Information about your choices is retained until it is no longer needed for this purpose, subject to applicable record-keeping requirements. The legal basis for recording required consent choices is Article 6(1)(c) GDPR. Consent to optional technologies is based on Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and the applicable rules on access to information on your device.

Contacting us

When you contact us by email, telephone or a contact form, we use the information you provide to answer your enquiry and handle follow-up questions. For contractual or pre-contractual enquiries, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Other enquiries are handled on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to correspondence under Article 6(1)(f), or your consent where applicable. We retain this information for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any applicable legal retention obligations.

The Brain-Friendly Newsletter

Newsletter subscription is voluntary. We use your email address to send the newsletter when you agree to receive it. Other information you choose to provide may be used to personalise communications. The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Where an email confirmation is requested, you must confirm your subscription before it is completed. We retain subscription and confirmation records to document your choice.

We use Brevo (Sendinblue GmbH, Köpenicker Straße 126, 10179 Berlin, Germany) to manage subscriptions and send emails. Brevo processes subscriber data on our behalf. Information about its processing is available in Brevo’s privacy policy.

Brevo can record email delivery, opens and link clicks and provide campaign statistics. These functions can involve technical information about your device and interactions with an email. Campaign data may also be used to organise recipient groups and assess responses to communications.

You can withdraw newsletter consent at any time through the unsubscribe link in our newsletters or by emailing us. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. Subscriber information is kept while the subscription is active, subject to applicable legal requirements. After unsubscribing, limited information may be retained to document consent or withdrawal and to prevent further unwanted emails. Such suppression records are used for that purpose, based on our legitimate interest in respecting your choice.

Free resources and the Fun, Fear, and Focus® tool

The book preview is available directly without newsletter subscription. For the interactive tool, your email address is processed through Brevo to handle your access request and confirmation. Tool access and newsletter consent are separate: leaving the optional newsletter box unticked does not subscribe you to the newsletter. Processing necessary to provide the requested tool is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; any optional newsletter subscription is based on your separate consent.

The activity names, slider positions and reflections you enter in the interactive tool are processed in your browser. The tool does not send these entries to Brevo. Your personal PDF is generated on your device. Tool access records are separate from the newsletter audience; you can ask us to delete your access record using the contact address above.

Analytics, advertising and embedded content

The website’s analytics and advertising services include Google Analytics and Google Ads, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Analytics can collect information about visits, devices and interactions. Advertising services can measure responses to advertisements and support advertising audiences. Where these optional services require consent, their legal basis is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and the applicable device-access rules. You can change your cookie choices at any time.

The website also embeds YouTube videos, provided by Google Ireland Limited, using its enhanced privacy mode. Playing embedded content can involve connections to Google’s servers and processing of technical and usage information. If you are signed into Google, information may be associated with your account. Enhanced privacy mode does not mean that no personal information is processed. Google’s processing is explained in its privacy policy. Locally hosted fonts do not require a connection to Google Fonts servers.

Recipients and international processing

Personal data is accessible to authorised people and service providers where necessary for the purposes described above. We may also disclose data where legally required or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Some providers operate internationally, including in the United States. Applicable GDPR safeguards are required for transfers outside the European Economic Area. For the Google services described here, the existing transfer arrangements refer to the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. You may contact us for information about the safeguards applicable to a particular processing activity.

Retention and your rights

Unless a more specific period is stated above, personal data is retained only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, subject to legal retention obligations and the need to establish or defend legal claims.

Subject to the GDPR’s conditions, you can request access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing and data portability. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and to the use of your data for direct marketing. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. Contact office@friederikefabritius.com to exercise these rights. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, including in the country where you live or work or where an alleged infringement occurred.

We use encrypted HTTPS connections for this website. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure.
