Why I Think That Physical Books Are Better Than Audiobooks

Physical > Digital

When it comes to reading, your brain prefers a physical book.
Controversial in the days of e-readers and audiobooks (which I am not against, they have their place), but it is true.

The way we consume information affects our brain’s ability to process and retain it.
Digital media often encourages skimming rather than deep reading, which can weaken our critical thinking skills over time. This is concerning as more and more children are being brought up in a “digital first” environment.

Reading from printed media slows the brain down a bit (even for the speediest of readers) and leads to enhanced comprehension, memory, and analytical thinking.
It’s not just about what we read, but how we read that matters.

What do you think? I’m curious if, in your experience, you agree or not with these findings.
I know that I am partial to the convenience of an e-reader, but nothing beats a good book on a quiet, sunny day.
