Entering The New Age of Mind Control? Thoughts on the Neuralink Implant
Neuralink has implanted the first brain chip into a medical patient. Great news for humanity, right? After all this could help impaired people to live better lives. Time to celebrate!
Not so fast…
Progress follows the simple principle of: what can be done will be done. Do you really believe that this technology will remain limited to medical purposes?
Here is my prognosis: People will eagerly give up freedom and privacy for convenience. That is what we are all pretty much doing already when using a smart phone. There will be tangible personal benefits for those who use the technology. It’s only a matter of time until it will be used deliberately by people who want to gain an edge. Who doesn’t want an „improved“ brain? Higher performance, increased wellbeing – the sky is the limit.
This is leading the way into a new era of digital surveillance.
The first step is surveillance. The second one is control (changing your brain, aka: your thoughts, your feelings, your actions).
What are your thoughts? Would you get a brain chip implanted if it helped you to be smarter or to feel better?
