Want to take a look at my brian?
What you can see here is an image of my brain taken several weeks apart. In this case “red” indicates that there are is too much “high beta” – fast brain waves associated with stress. “Green” indicates that I have reached optimal levels.

What did I do to get there?
- I decluttered my entire physical space. From the office to the closet – I took to some serious decluttering following the classic mantra of “keep, toss, donate”.
- I decluttered my calendar. I only do meetings when I want to. Everything else is a simple no.
- I decluttered my digital space: It took me weeks to get my photos down from 70,000 to 15,000. It gave me a quite a headache but now I can find just the right picture in a matter of seconds and don’t have to see pictures of people or situations I didn’t enjoy. I also organized all my digital files according to the “building a second brain” method.
- I decluttered my social space – no more parent teacher meetings. This is time I rather spend with my kids at home. I estimated that I would spend almost a full month per year in these meetings!
- Finally, I decluttered my brain. I experimented with breathing, hypnosis and neurofeedback.
