Feed Your Brain with a Little Sunlight
Starting your day of right – and BRIGHT
If you know me, you know I am a morning person. It is a large part of my daily routine.
Some struggle in the AM and wish they could become more of a “morning person”☀️ instead of a “night owl.”🌙
Studies actually reveal when people turn themselves into morning people, their mental well-being improves.
You might be saying, “𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭, 𝘍𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘬𝘦, 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝘥𝘰 𝘐 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯?”
Follow these tips and be on your way to being a morning person
🌞 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘂𝗽. If you leave your shades open, the natural light will enter your room as the sun comes up, which helps set your circadian rhythm and lets your brain know – it’s time to wake up!
☕ 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Drink a cup of coffee or tea. I’m not a huge fan of caffeine, but if you need that little extra boost – be sure you’re drinking it in the morning only, so it doesn’t affect your sleep at night!
🏃 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. Go for a walk, run, or hike. Just get out! Studies show that the morning is when your willpower is at its highest – so you won’t be as likely to talk yourself out of your daily outside time if you get it done first thing.
📵 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. Many screens contain “blue light,” which blocks melatonin – the brain chemical that makes you sleepy. So, pick up a book instead.
👪 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱. Encourage your significant other and other family members to follow your new early-rising routine. If they can’t (or won’t), explain what they should expect from your new habits.
